HOW WILL WE HAVE CONTACT ABOUT THE SHOOT?
Once you have requested your shoot via the contact form, I will reply and send you an email within 5 working days. We will then discuss your wishes per email and set a date together. If you would like to get to know each other a little bit before we plan a shoot, you can indicate this when requesting the shoot. We will schedule an (online) meeting if you like.
WHAT CAN I EXPECT OF A SHOOT WITH YOU?
First of all, it’s important to know that I shoot in documentary style. This means I don’t work staged. I will walk along with you for a couple of hours (depending on how long you booked) and capture the moments of your day the way I see them. My intention is to capture pure and candid moments. So, I won’t give directions and won’t let you pose.
I also greatly value open and honest communication. You can feel free to tell me what works for you and what doesn’t. Is a moment too personal and would you rather have me put away my camera for a while? I’ll do so without a problem. Or would you like me to pay extra attention to a specific moment? You can be vocal about your preferences. It’s your shoot!
WHERE WILL THE SHOOT TAKE PLACE?
Wherever you like! I don’t work in a studio or other staged settings, but shoot on location. The location depends on what moment you want me to capture. In other words: you decide. For example, the shoot can take place at your home if you want me to capture a day in your usual life. Or somewhere in the nature if you’d like me to photograph a walk with your four-legged friend. We can also travel together if you wish to be at multiple locations that day. Anything goes.
Want to book a shoot, but no idea what you want me to capture? Feel free to send a message, we’ll brainstorm together!
WHY CAN'T I BOOK A 1-HOUR SHOOT?
Because an hour doesn’t offer enough space for those pure moments the shoot is all about! It takes an average of 15-20 minutes for most people to get used to the fact that there is a stranger present with a camera who captures everything they do. This likely results in less authentic images in those first 15-20 minutes. This is only natural and totally logical, but it also means that 1 hour is too short to capture valuable moments in an unforced manner. That is why 2 hours is the minimum.
WHAT ABOUT THE USE OF THE PHOTOS?
When you book a shoot, you automatically agree to my general terms and conditions. These include that I have the right to use the photos on my social media and website. BUT: you can always tell me if you don’t feel comfortable with that. I will not publish anything you feel uncomfortable with.
Regarding the use of the photos on your own social media: the more, the better! I would just like to ask you to tag me and not to crop or edit the photos (no filters!), but to use them as I have provided them. After all, the photos are a calling card for my work as a photographer.
WHAT HAPPENS AFTER THE SHOOT?
After the shoot, I will upload the photos to my laptop at home. I’ll send you the images in high resolution via an online photo library, and you can make a decision which ones you like best. When you have selected your favorites, I’ll carefully edit them. I will determine during post-processing whether I like a photo better in color or in black and white. When everything is ready, I will send you the edited photos via the same online photo library, where you can download them with a personal password.
WHAT IF I WANT MORE PHOTOS THAN WE AGREED BEFOREHAND?
That’s possible! You can order extra photos by simply selecting more favorites in the online photo library. Extra photos cost €5,- per photo.
FOR WHAT TYPE OF MOMENTS WOULD YOU RECOMMEND A SHOOT LIKE THIS?
For any moment, really! Whether it’s an event you organized with blood, sweat and tears, behind the scene pictures of your company, or the dynamics between you and your loved one(s). It’s also a great photography style when you find posing uncomfortable. In short, if you value pure and authentic moments, hit me up!
I AM NOT PART OF THE LGBTQ+ COMMUNITY, CAN I STILL BOOK A SHOOT WITH YOU?
Awesome that you’re interested in my work! Essentially, everyone is welcome in front of my lens. I do hope that you’re an ally, because we seem to need you more than ever.
WHY DO YOU FOCUS SPECIFICALLY ON THE LGBTQ+ COMMUNITY?
Not only because I’m part of this community myself, also because I think it’s the most beautiful and fun community! I find it really important to see more authentic representation. Especially in a world that is becoming more and more polarized. In addition, I think it’s important to provide a safe space.
It’s important to realize that photography (besides it being incredibly fun) is also a powerful tool to capture differences. And unfortunately this doesn’t always happen with the best intentions. Think of a situation in which you’re getting photographed without consent by a stranger because you do not conform to their norms. But maybe you also hate those school photos from the past, because you were forced to wear a dress while you would rather have worn a cool outfit. Or maybe you wore a cool outfit and would’ve rather worn a dress.
It’s my intention to offer a safe and relaxed experience with photography. One that makes you feel proud of the results!
CAN I BOOK A SHOOT FOR ME AND MY PET?
I love animals! I am a bit afraid of spiders and snakes, so let me know what kind of pet we’re dealing with 😉 Please keep in mind that I will only document and will not distract your pet with cookies and toys. I want to capture your interaction with your pet, not mine.
WILL I GET ADVICE ABOUT HOW TO DRESS FOR THE SHOOT?
No! I want the purest possible representation of how you usually are. That also means that you wear the clothes that you would normally wear and you feel comfortable in.
I HAVE A CAMERA ON MY PHONE, CAN'T I DO THIS MYSELF?
Phone cameras are getting better and better, which is great! However, there is still a big difference in quality between a professional camera and the camera on your phone. And even though you probably know how to take a pretty cool snap with your phone, the result really is different when a photographer takes a ‘snap’ with advanced equipment and the necessary knowledge. A professional camera has many functions and settings that can be adjusted to one’s own insight. Speaking of insight: you can trust that a photographer looks at composition and light a bit differently and has an eye for the best moments. Lastly, if you’re the one who’s always taking pictures, you’re probably missing in most of them 😉 Have a look at the rest of my website and instagram if you’re in doubt.
WHEN CAN I EXPECT THE PHOTOS?
Take into account two weeks. There is quite a bit of work in selecting, editing and sharing the photos. Also, there is a good chance that you’re not the only one in my agenda 🙂
HOW DO I PAY?
I will send you an invoice two weeks before the shoot. Since I’m reserving a spot in my agenda for you, I cannot schedule other work on that day and time. It’s reassuring for me to have the certainty that we both intend to show up for the appointment. In case of a cancellation, you will get your money back. Please do take into account general terms and conditions and cancel no later than 5 days prior to shoot to receive full refund.
CAN I PAY IN INSTALLMENTS?
Sure! Life is expensive and I fully understand that money doesn’t grow on a tree. If only it did! That’s why I offer the option to pay for the shoot in installments. There are no extra costs involved. You can indicate this when booking the shoot.
DO YOU ALSO PHOTOGRAPH OTHER SUBJECTS THAN PEOPLE?
In addition to people, I also love photographing nature, animals and food! Always feel free to contact me to see if I can be of service to you if you have other wishes.
WHICH CAMERA AND OBJECTIVES DO YOU USE?
I use a Canon R6 Mark II. I currently own six lenses which I use alternately:
– 35mm f/1.8
– 50mm f/1.8
– 10-18mm f/4.5-5.6
– 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6
– 24-105mm f/4-7.1
– 55-250mm f/4.0-5.6
The 35mm and 50mm are my favorites for documentary shoots. A 85mm is still on my wishlist.
